Upcoming Darfur events in Orange County (OCFD meeting, Rally for Darfur etc.)

Hi everyone,

A lot has happened the last two weeks.  In a nutshell,

  • We had a full house at our performance of In Darfur at Chapman University last week.  Over 250 people attended and we raised over $950 for GI-Net’s Civilian Protection Program for Darfuri refugees.
  • Adam Abaker, a Darfuri refugee spoke at Chapman this past Monday about his experience as a genocide investigator.   It was grounding to hear Adam speak about the expanding crisis with Omar Bashir expelling most humanitarian agencies in Darfur.

Below are some upcoming events in Orange County.  Our planning meeting next Tuesday is moved an hour earlier.  See all details below.  Hope you are able to attend some of these next week.

Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na’im is the Charles Howard Candler Professor of Law at Emory University where he focuses on cross-cultural human rights issues, international law and human rights, and human rights in Islam. He left his native Sudan in 1985 and has been an advocate for human rights in Africa ever since.  Click here for more information. 

Wednesday, May 13th at 7:00p Screening of “God Grew Tired of Us”

The Camp, Costa Mesa
Global Inheritance, a group based in LA is screening “God Grew Tired of Us”, a documentary film about three boys who fled the ongoing war in Sudan and resettled in the US.  Orange County for Darfur has been invited to speak afterwards.  More information coming shortly.
